Introduction to the Liturgy of the Hours

Sr. Anne Flanagan, FSP, will be giving a free lecture on the Liturgy of the Hours at the bookstore on Saturday,

Only an hour!  The Liturgy of the Hours or Divine Office is the official set of daily prayers prescribed by the Catholic
Church to be recited at the canonical hours by the clergy, religious orders, and laity. The Liturgy of the Hours consists
primarily of psalms supplemented by hymns and readings. Together with the Mass, it constitutes the official public
prayer life of the Church. There is a growing trend among the laity to engage in the Liturgy of the Hours. Find out why
and how!

Nov. 7:  1st Friday Movie Night at the Pauline Book Store -- 6:30 pm "Millions"--2004-

One of the most charming films every made, "Millions," is about a little British boy who talks to the saints. He
comes into the possession of oodles of money, and deals with his new-found wealth in light of the Gospel--
something very displeasing to the greedy adults around him. Perfectly illustrates: "Unless you become as little
    children...."

Nov. 14:  Holy Name Cathedral Gala

Dec. 12: 1st Friday Movie Night at the Pauline Book Store -- 6:30 pm --  "Guadalupe"--2006--
The "definitive" movie on Our Lady of Guadalupe! A fictional story of two couples with marital troubles begins
in Spain and winds up in Mexico. Flashbacks recount the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe throughout.
    Scientific findings are presented.
